American Skincare Journal is dedicated to giving readers reliable, current information on beauty and makeup, gathered through direct testing rather than press materials. Our editorial team focuses on the details that actually affect daily use: how a formula wears, how a tool performs over weeks rather than one trial, and how a claim on the packaging holds up once the product leaves the store.
We cover skincare fundamentals, in-depth product reviews, and the practical questions readers bring to us. We think beauty is tied to how people feel in their own skin, not only to how something looks in the first five minutes, and we write with that in mind.
We buy the products we review ourselves, anonymously, from the places readers actually shop: drugstores, Sephora, Ulta Beauty, Target, CVS, Walgreens, and Amazon.com. Nobody pays us to feature a product, and no brand sees our results before publication.
How Findings Are Reviewed
Before a review or a set of test results goes to print, it is checked by a small panel with backgrounds in dermatology and in formulation science, including a biochemist who studies how ingredients interact with skin. Their role is to review our methods and our conclusions, not to endorse any product, and their sign-off is part of how we decide what we publish.
Corrections and Reader Input
If you notice an error, have a question about how we tested something, or think we should be looking at a category we haven’t covered, we want to hear about it. Details on how to reach the editorial team are on our contact page.
